From Quote to Completion: What to Expect When You Order a Metal Building

Buying a metal building shouldn’t be confusing — but it often is. Between engineering requirements, site prep, and scheduling, many customers wonder what happens after they place their order. At USA Metal Structures, we keep it simple. Here’s a transparent look at what you can expect from start to finish.

Step 1: Free Quote & Design Consultation

We start with a detailed quote tailored to your specs — size, roof style, color, and location. You can design your building in real time with our Free 3D Builder, or work directly with one of our building specialists to finalize your layout.

Step 2: Deposit & Order Confirmation

Once you approve your design and quote, your Building Specialist will issue the building contract that will require your e-signature. A small deposit secures your order and starts the engineering/manufacturing process. You’ll receive a confirmation email and a copy of your signed order form & deposit receipt for your records.

Step 3: Engineering

The shop will get with the engineer to email you Generic engineer plans for you to obtain your permit (if needed), or Site-Specific plans will be ordered should your town require that.

Step 4: Scheduling & Lead Time

The scheduling department arranges installation routes based on geography and weather conditions. The schedulers ask for a couple of site photos to confirm that your area is ready. If your installation surface is ground, gravel, dirt, or asphalt, please ensure that its level within 2 inches — this ensures smooth installation and proper door operation. Lead times vary by area. Call your assigned scheduler to get updates.

Step 5: Delivery & Installation Day

On the day of installation, our verified crews arrive with all materials ready to go. Most buildings go up the same day. The installation crew will handle everything — delivery, assembly, and cleanup — at no extra cost in select areas. *Some project will require a Lull Lift rental. Your building specialist will go over this during the quoting process.

Step 6: Final Inspection & Satisfaction Check

Once complete, you’ll walk through the finished structure with the installer to confirm everything meets your expectations. Our team follows up afterward to ensure you’re 100% satisfied.
